Postman Pat: The Movie is a CGI feature film based on Postman Pat.

Production[]

On 11 October 2004, it was announced that Postman Pat could soon be a star of the big screen if Hollywood bosses get their way. A number of leading American film studios, including Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers and Universal Pictures, were understood to be among those seeking to acquire the film rights to a string of British television favourites, including Postman Pat. Universal and Twentieth Century, the Hollywood studios, had approached the British company Entertainment Rights about a possible film version of Postman Pat. Mike Heap, the chief executive of Entertainment Rights, confirmed that talks were taking place with a number of different film makers but refused to give details. Earlier in 2004, Prisons Minister Paul Goggins, MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East, revealed that one of the characters, old lady Mrs Goggins, who is often heard to sigh, "Eee, it's a bad job", was named after a relative.[1]

On 7 October 2009, it was announced that a 3D animated movie starring Postman Pat was reportedly in the works. According to The Mirror, Classic Media is to produce a film based on John Cunliffe's children's TV series, which followed a country postal worker delivering letters in a red van with his cat Jess. It was also originally said that it would be a mix of traditional stop-motion and state-of-the-art CG animation. Stop-motion animation was not used for the film, likely due to Cosgrove Hall Films shutting down around the same time, Mackinnon and Saunders were likely not considered to provide the animation for the film and there wasn't another British stop-motion studio, such as Aardman Animations, HOT Animations and Calon, that was able to animate the film. The stop-motion element was scrapped in favour of making the film in full CGI. "It is going to be an exciting time for Pat's fans," said Classic's Andrew Kerr. The film was originally going to just be called "Postman Pat", and would be targeted for a 2011 cinema release.[2]

Goofs[]

  • At some points, Ted's lorry seems to be being driven by someone else.
  • In the flashbacks to Pat's Wedding, Ajay, Nisha and Lauren appear despite the fact that they were introduced later on in the series.
  • Pat should have had his hat off during his wedding and a regular suit.
  • In a flashback where Jess is introduced to the Clifton household, there is a photo of him already on the mantle piece, despite him just being introduced. This is most likely due to the animator not removing the reference to his existence.
  • In real life, Wilf would have been critically injured after being run over twice.
  • As the Greendale Light Railway runs between Greendale and Pencaster, Ajay would need to make special arrangments in order to take the Greendale Rocket on to London.
  • The Greendale Rocket engine has more than one connecting rod.
  • The doorman and the Postman Pat fans outside the studio at the "You're the One" finals should have recognised the real Postman Pat when they saw him.
  • In the end credits, Ted Glen's name is misspelt with two N's.
  • When running over Wilf, The PATBOT 3000 is driving PAT 4 when it should be driving PAT 1
  • When Jullian and Jess run over to the sorting office, All the PAT 4's are PAT 1's.
  • When traveling to London, it's unknown who was driving PAT 1.
  • After running away from the PATBOT 3000 when it breaks the sorting office barrier, the SDS employies suddenly vanish.
  • When the PATBOT 3000 flies off in PAT 3 and Wilf heads to London, PAT 1 suddenly disappears.
