Rebecca Hubbard (otherwise known as Miss Hubbard) is a friend of Pat Clifton's. She usually works as the verger for Greendale Church.

Biography

She lived in a cottage in the countryside, similar to Granny Dryden. She always liked to go to choir practice and often helped to arrange special events in Greendale. She can usually be seen riding around Greendale on her bicycle and she even gets to various places like the church in bad weather such as snow, rain or fog.

Description

The valley’s busy spinster. She kept horses which she bred for sale and hire and hens. It is guessed that she also had a private income. She worked assiduously at all the valley’s activities and some town ones too- church choir, flower show, fetes, amateur drama, cubs and brownies, mothers guild etc. She organised collections for church and charities or for national and international disaster funds. She would not take “No” for an answer and was persistent and determined. This sometimes brought her into conflict with Mrs. Pottage. She thrived on the close community life of the valley. She was tall and angular and rode a sit-up-and-beg bicycle in all weathers, though she could easily afford a car.

Personality

She was very kind, but, at times, she could be quite snobbish towards working class people like Ted Glen.

Job

Although not working class, Miss Hubbard often helped out around the church doing various jobs like bell ringing, organ playing, taking the Sunday School and the like. It is possible she might have been the verger.
