A Runaway Cow is the first episode of the sixth series of Postman Pat and the first series of Postman Pat: Special Delivery Service.
Plot[]
Pat has to deliver a highland cow named Daisy to Alf Thompson. For that, he will need Amy's horse box, but Daisy runs away as soon as everyone's backs are turned.

- This is Lewis MacLeod's first episode in the cast.
- This is the first episode where Ken Barrie does not voice Pat.
- Ken felt it was time to hand over "Pat’s postbag" to Lewis MacLeod. Ken commented: "Playing one of the most iconic children’s characters of all time has been an incredibly exciting journey and a great pleasure for me. Having voiced Postman Pat for so many years I feel the natural time has come for a new artist to put his own stamp on the character, without losing Pat’s essential qualities as he takes on his promotion as Head of the Special Delivery Service in the new series. I am delighted to continue playing the voices of PC Selby and Ted Glen in the new series and keep my passion for the show alive."

- Aerial views and flying sequences are now depicted in CGI.
- This is the first episode not to have Pat’s name in the title since Letters on Ice.

- This episode marks the introduction of PAT 2 (the SDS Lorry) and PAT 3 (the SDS Helicopter).

Goofs[]
- Daisy should have been in a horse box from the start.
- Pat's Lorry and the School Bus should not have the same registration plate.
- When Pat and Amy arrive back at the sorting office to get the helicopter, PAT 1 vanishes.
- Why did Pat and Amy not notice that Daisy sneaked away, after letting Jess out of the horse box?
- How did Daisy get up the mountain so quickly?
